Short history of the monastery.

The monastery of the Lord Transfiguration which is at the same time the main residence of Bishop of Serbia in Canada is located in Milton, 50 km to the south-west of Toronto in the mountainous part of Niagara green belt (Niagara Escartment). The land for building the monastery was bought by the Diocese of Serbia in 1988. The monastery cathedral was consecrated by the Most Blessed deceased Patriarch of Serbia Paul in 1994. The monastery possesses 20 hectares of land. There is a church, a cemetery, a residential building and a library on the territory. In the monastery park there are football, volley-ball, basket-ball grounds, a kindergarten with playing ground, express-train Tavna-Milton and a short river flowing on the territory. This beautiful place is not only religious but national cultural centre for all Canadian Serbs.
