The All Orthodox Vespers on the week of the Triumph of Orthodoxy

On the week of the Triumph of Orthodoxy All Orthodox Vespers was conducted in the Cathedral Church of St. Barbara in Edmonton (Canada).

On February 21, on the week of the Triumph of Orthodoxy All Orthodox Vespers was conducted in the Cathedral Church of St. Barbara in Edmonton (Canada) with the participation of clerics and laymen of this city. According to the tradition such service is annually conducted in one of the Orthodox churches of the capital of Alberta province.

The service was headed by Bishop of Kashira Iov, Administrator of Patriarchal Parishes in Canada and a.i. in the USA.  Representatives of Constantinople, Antioch, Moscow and Rumania Patriarchates and also of Orthodox Church in America took part in the service.

During the solemn service conducted in the English, Church Slavic, Greek, Ukrainian and Rumanian languages there took place icon-bearing procession and the office of the Triumph of Orthodoxy.

Following the dismissal Bishop Iov warmly greeted the representatives of Local Orthodox Churches and addressed the parishioners whose number was over 200 people on that day.

In this sermon His Eminence told about the sense of this feast specially stressing that a believer “must preserve the faith in Christ and not cause Christ and the Church to suffer from the sins”.

Then there was a reception for all those present in the parish hall of the Cathedral.
