Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II,
Catholicos and The Supreme Head of the Indian Syrian Malankara Church

Your Holiness!

On behalf of The Russian Orthodox Church, its Patriarchal parishes in Canada and on my own behalf, I cordially greet You and thank God for Your safe arrival in Western Canada, to the God-blessed capital of the province of Alberta – the city of Edmonton.

Having overcome the former problem, your church recently restored communication with the pre-Chalcedonian Eastern Churches family, and Your Holiness is a regular participant in inter-Christian forums. We are pleading God that under Your wise guidance the Ancient Church in India – with which we have in common Saint apostle Thomas – would enter into the theological and liturgical union with the whole fullness of the rest of the Orthodox Church. We strongly believe that this spiritual union would result (according to the Will of God) in the birth of the new era of prosperity of the Holy Orthodoxy in the Indian land…

Your Church always called and now continues to call the power authorities and politicians of all over the world towards peace and constructive dialogue in the society and between different religious confessions in the ancient Indian land. Our Church is always ready to continue the mutually profitable and of long standing alliance between our Churches in the sphere of the corporate peace-keeping activity and the sphere of defending the traditional moral values.

I know that Your present visit to Canada coincides with the day of your 70th anniversary. I wish You, Your Holiness, the help of God in Your pilgrimage to all the parishes of Your Church here in Canada, good health and many years of life and also peace to the priests and the congregation of the Ancient Indian Syrian Malankara Church both in the historical Motherland and everywhere around the world.

With brotherly love,

+Iov, Bishop of Kashira, Administrator of Patriarchal Parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in Canada
